A dinner dance held at Waterside Garden Centre to raise money for the Bourne mayor’s charities was a big success on Friday night.
The event held at the restaurant at the garden centre in Baston was attended by more than 70 people including the mayors of Peterborough, Stamford and Melton, who were there to support Coun Helen Powell.
Coun Powell said: “It was fantastic. It was a really lovely night and Waterside had never done a night event like that before.
“Waterside restaurant had pulled out all the stops and we were swept away by the ambience, music and food.
“Their hospitality was second to none and the food delicious, as always.
“Everyone was really excited to be there. It was like there were lots of little Christmas parties.”
The event included a meal of either organic beef bourguignon, poached salmon, or a vegetarian option with rice, while violin and guitar music played throughout providing a range of music for the evening.
The event, which was the first Coun Powell had organised since becoming mayor in May, raised £760 for charity which will be split between Dementia Support South Lincs, SSAFA and the Butterfield Centre.
