A CHARITY fundraiser has completed the New York Marathon.
Mike Shattock, 41, of Truesdale Gardens, Langtoft, ran the gruelling 26.2-mile run on Sunday in 5hrs, 12mins, in aid of the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability in Putney, London.
He said of the New York Marathon: “It was one of the greatest experiences of my life but it was very difficult. After about 19 miles, the aches set in and I started to suffer.”
It is the second of three big fundraising challenges for the hospital, which is caring for Mike’s wife Sam who suffered a cardiac arrest in January last year.
So far, Mike has raised more than £22,000 for the hospital.
