RESIDENTS at a sheltered housing scheme chose their own new kitchens and bathrooms.

Housing association Spire Homes hosted a mince pie party at Gainsborough Court in Cottesmore to mark the completion of refurbishments and a new lift.

Dave Scattergood, from the contractors Apollo Group and Spire’s director of housing services Katy Sagoe cut the ribbon with resident Jean Freeman to mark the opening of the lift at the housing complex.

Spire spent £600,000 on installing the lift and improving the tenants’ flats and the communal areas.

New kitchens and bathrooms were installed in each flat and the tenants were able to choose the colour schemes for both.
