An aspiring model is hoping to raise money for a children’s hospice as she bids to be named Miss Leicester.

Cara Learoyd, 22, who lives in Langham, will battle it out for the regional title in the Miss Great Britain competition.

The regional competition will be held in June and there are 24 finalists. Girls will be marked on looks, personality and confidence and whittled down to the top 10, who will all be interviewed on stage before a winner is chosen.

As part of the competition, the participants are tasked with raising funds for charity. Cara is hoping to raise money for Rainbows children’s hospice and will take part in a 10k race in Leicester to help the cause.

Cara, who works as a healthcare assistant, said: “This is my first pageant, I am both excited and nervous, but this is a fantastic opportunity and one that I intend to enjoy every minute.”
