A SUPERMARKET says it is close to submitting plans to build an out-of-town retail park.

Morrisons is looking to build the complex on the former Mirlees Blackstone site, next to its store in Uffington Road, Stamford.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: “We are now close to submitting our revised application and have been in discussions with the council and planners regarding the scheme.”

The chain first submitted an application in 2006 and it was approved by the district council in July 2008.

But the permission was quashed by a High Court judge in July 2009, after Stamford Chamber of Trade and Commerce and F H Gilman and Co objected to the development.
