SUPERMARKET shoppers have decided the destiny of a checkout worker’s beard.

Michael Feeney, 38, of West Street, King’s Cliffe, started growing his first beard on April 7.

He put two donation buckets on his checkout at the Morrisons store in Stamford, one labelled “Let it grow” and one labelled “Shave it”.

On Friday he counted up the totals and with £136.70 to £111.95 the “Let it grow” option won. Michael has vowed not to shave his beard off until December 26.

The money raised will be split between the Willow Tree Playgroup in King’s Cliffe, Transition King’s Cliffe, and the Save the Children charity
