It has been 40 years since Uppingham boasted its own cinema but, thanks to the enthusiasm of residents and with the support of the Town Partnership, a movie will once againbe shown in the town.
The Town Hall in High Street East is to host a screening of Ben Afleck’s Oscar-winning film Argo.
Organiser and Uppingham resident Jannet Wignall said: “This is really a social event with a film in the middle.
“People can come along with food and drink beforehand, enjoy this fantastic film together, and of course then stay afterwards to chat about what they thought.
“We want this to be a regular event. It’s an excuse for a bit of a get together, but what better a reason than to enjoy some of the best films on the big screen with your friends, right on your doorstep.”
Argo, which one Best Film at the 2013 Oscars, is certified 15.
It will be screened at Uppingham Town Hall on Wednesday, May 8, at 7.15pm.
Tickets cost £5, available from the Falcon Hotel reception and on the door subject to availability. Organisers advise viewers to bring their own drinks, food and seat cushions.
