HAVE you ever wondered who painted the murals at Stamford’s George Hotel?

The Botticelli Venus with the hairdryer in the ladies’ powder room, the Elizabethan flowers in the restaurant, the trompe l’oeil plasterwork in the York Bar, the bas reliefs of George and the Dragon in the reception area plus decoration work in some of the bedrooms is all the work of Nottingham artist Jennifer Bell.

Jennifer, whose work can also be seen at The Haycock Hotel in Wansford and at Stapleford Park Hotel near Melton Mowbray, is also an equestrian artist who is exhibiting her paintings of life-sized horses for the first time at the Burghley Horse Trials, which are taking place until Sunday.

She will be on the Bronze and Brush stand in the Lifestyle Pavilion alongside bronzes sculpted by three of the world’s top sporting artists – Judy Boyt, Juliet Cursham and Priscilla Hann.
