COLLEGE students launched a crackdown on speeding drivers.

Level three extended diploma in public services students from New College Stamford spent Thursday last week using a speed gun to identify speeding drivers in Drift Road, Stamford.

They were assisted by police community support officer David Vines.

The students will follow up on the initiative by attending a young drivers’ education programme, run by Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, in November.

Environmental assistant at the college Jamie Atkins, who organised the project, said: “Working closely with Officer Vines has enabled us to show our students what the effects of speeding are and how serious it can be.”
