The Stamford Mercury Archive Trust is looking for new premises to store its amazing collection of newspapers.
The trust, a charitable group which oversees the archives, is currently based at the Mercury’s premises in Sheep Market, Stamford.
It stores newspapers and bound volumes dating back to the early 1700s and also has microfilm of the papers which members of the public can view.
The archive is moving because the lease on the Mercury’s premises runs out next year.
At present the archive has a room of 32ft by 17ft and two smaller rooms for microfilm viewing and an office.
If you have or know of premises in Stamford which might be suitable please e-mail Mercury editor Eileen Green, who is chairman of the archive trust, at email@example.com. All correspondence will be treated in the strictest confidence.
The Mercury is also moving from Sheep Market and is investigating alternative locations.
