NEW rules have been introduced to improve safety for taxi drivers and passengers.
South Kesteven District Council has launched a points system which could see drivers lose their taxi licence if they breach too many regulations. The rules will come into force early next year.
Coun Paul Carpenter said: “This is for the benefit of both the trade and the general public and I am pleased we received such a positive response during our consultation.”
Drivers will also have to stop using their cars after 10 years or 12 years for purpose-built taxis.
