A NEWLY formed animal trust has donated a cheque for £500 to the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust’s Rutland Osprey Project.

The East Midlands Group of the Hawk and Owl Trust gave the money to the group, which will be put towards the on-going costs of retrieving data from the GPS satellite-transmitters used by the team at Rutland Water to track the ospreys, both in Rutland and on their 3,000 mile migration to West Africa.

Project manager Tim Mackrill said: “We are extremely grateful to the Hawk and Owl Trust for their generous donation.

“The satellite tracking data provides us with a unique insight into the ospreys’ daily lives.”
