A PUB opened its doors early to celebrate a special day.

Northfields pub on Drift Road, Stamford showed the ceremony on TV this morning, and is gearing up for a big afternoon.

Owner Rick Crouch said: “We’ve got all the flags up and we’re putting food and music on later.

“I’m really excited about the whole thing. It’s great for people all over the country, and people that can’t afford to go to London will have a good time in their local pubs or at parties.

“It’s special for a lot of people because Kate is a ‘commoner’ marrying into royalty, and a lot of people can associate with her working class ancestry.”

Staff will be wearing St George themed hats all day and the pub is covered in decorations.

Arthur Manners, 64, came down early with his dog Leo. He said: “If you ask 25 people in the street the majority would probably say they weren’t interested, but I bet most will still watch it at home.”
