THE funeral service for Albert (Titch) Walsham, formerly of Godsey Lane, Market Deeping, took place at St Guthlac’s Church, Market Deeping, the Rev P Brent officiating. Interment followed at Market Deeping Cemetery. Donations were made to the British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (RP Fighting Blindess).
Mr Walsham died at Maxey House Residential Home, after a short illness, aged 87.
Born in Grimsby, he worked as a kitchen hand at Dow-Mac, Tallington, for 39 years until being made redundant in 1985. During the Second World War he served with Army but was released on medical grounds.
For 23 years he was cared for by his daughter, Ellen, with help from his other daughter Jennifer, until moving into Maxey House Residential Home in 2009. A member of the Salvation Army, he attended Stamford Day Centre once a week and also enjoyed having a little ‘bet’ on the horses, and as he was blind listening to others read to him.
Widower of Rose, who died in 1984, he leaves his son John, daughters Jennifer and Ellen, son-in-law Allan, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
