THE funeral of retired secretary and director Edna Plant took place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Marholm, Canon William Burke officiating. Cremation at Marholm followed. Donations were shared between the Royal British Legion and the Salvation Army.
Mrs Plant died at Chater Lodge, Ketton, aged 93.
She was educated at Lincoln Road School Peterborough and secondary school, before attending a private secretarial school.
She became secretary to Mr Baker of Baker Perkins during the 1930s. During the 1950s - 1970s she was proprietor of three wool, ladies and childrenswear shops in Peterborough and was director and secretary of the family business.
During the Second World War she was an ambulance driver.
When she was younger she loved dancing with her husband Bert, owner of Bert Plant Plumbers and Marholm Builders, who sadly died in 1997.
She leaves her son Michael and daughter Susan.
