Jack Bowden

JACK Bowden, of Holland Road, Stamford, died at Peterborough Hospital aged 87.

Born in the Stoke area, Jack moved to Stamford while serving with the Royal Leicestershire Regiment during the Second World War and was stationed at Burghley Park. During this time he met and married Kathleen Bagworth, of Ryhall. They made their home in Stamford with their six children, and enjoyed many happy years of marriage, until the death of his wife.

After the war, Jack worked as a welder and fitter, at Martins in Stamford. He then moved to Henry McNairs Foundry at Ryhall until its closure. The later years of his working life were spent at Williamson Cliffe in Stamford.

On retirement he enjoyed working in his greenhouse, gardening, photography and up until his death he had a keen interest in computers.

Canon Hayden Smart officiated at the funeral service at Marholm Crematorium.
