WINIFRED (Win) Hall died at Chevington House Nursing Home, Bourne, after a short illness, with her family present, aged 97.
She was born at Tidworth Barracks, Wiltshire, while her father was serving with the 17th - 21st Lancers, the eldest and longest survivor of four siblings.
Win spent her early life on a farm at Sittingbourne, Kent, before moving to Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, in her teens. There she met Charles (Charlie) Hall who she married on June 19, 1937. They had seven children, 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
For many years they lived at the garage at Morton crossroads, known as Hall’s Garage, where Win helped her husband run the service station and garage. On retirement they moved to Aslackby, where they had many happy years together, until Charlie died in 1993. Win continued to live at their home where she looked after herself until going into care, aged 95.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and having her family visit her. Her last year was spent at Chevington House, Bourne, where she enjoyed the friendly atmosphere with both staff and residents.
Cremation at Grantham Crematorium took place, followed by a celebration of her life at St James the Great Church, Aslackby.
