The organisers of a new market in Oakham were delighted by the huge turnout and success of their first event.

The inaugural Oakham Quality Market was held at Victoria Hall in High Street on Sunday. Vicki Taylor and Isobel Pearce, who set up the event, were thrilled that more than 750 people passed through the doors to browse around the market.

The event was opened by Oakham mayor Adam Lowe and featured a range of stalls and activities including Silver Sparklez, which sells children’s clothes and jewellery, Artisan Woodworking, Cake That, Usbourne Books, Bombtastic cosmetics company, Felt Like Making It, Oddity Owl, Funkie Faces face painting, Kit soft furnishings and Floppy Chicken.

Vicki said: “It was just amazing and way beyond our expectations.

“We had more than 750 visitors through the door and there was such a lovely atmosphere. It was just brilliant.”

The next Oakham Quality Market is being held on October 13. Vicki and Isobel are also holding the market in Stamford. To find out more and to run a stall, e-mail rutlandeventsco@btinternet.com or contact the company on Facebook or Twitter
