MEMBERS of a support group in Bourne are delighted to have raised £5,000 for charity.

Parkinson’s UK Bourne Support Group presented a cheque to Parkinson’s UK chief executive Steve Ford at the Salvation Army Hall in Manning Road, on Monday. The group raised the money through a variety of events.

A strawberry cream tea raised £3,000 earlier this summer, Rachel Papworth and Heather King, both from Bourne, raised £800 from their Langtoft 10k run, and Jack and Val Leeton, donated their silver wedding anniversary money to the group’s cause.

Group spokesman Jean Fowler said: “It feels absolutely fantastic. We only have about 40 members so to have raised that amount is amazing.”
