A COLOSSAL cake sale has raised more than £1,860 for charity.

Help for Heroes volunteers held a stall at Stamford Market on Friday.

A range of cakes were sold on the day, as well as charity merchandise.

County coordinator Carol Roome was delighted with both the public and local shops who helped out with the sale.

Help for Heroes is a charity which provides support for British servicemen and women.

Carol said: “I was thrilled with the support we got from the public and we made a whooping £1,860.

“We had great support from the local shops as well, with Fine Foods and Cafe Black both donating some wonderful cakes. The cafe not only support the charity by selling our wristbands, but also refused to take any money for the many hot drinks that we had from them throughout the day.

“A huge thank you to them and to everyone who baked cakes and to all of those who helped out on the day.”
