A BUSINESSWOMAN has been nominated for a national award.

Fiona Mitchell, 38, a full-time mother and entrepreneur from Pointon, runs Georgiana May, an online high-quality gifts and homeware shop.

She launched the business in June so she could stay at home with her young children, Aurora, three and 11-month-old William.

Now Fiona has been nominated for an award at The Mumpreneur Awards 2012, a national award scheme for mums who run their own enterprises.

The Mumpreneur Awards are the UK’s first national business awards dedicated solely to mums in business. Now in its fourth year, the awards have been a platform for many mums to enhance and grow their businesses.

Fiona has been nominated in the Best Start Up, Best Online Business Award and Best Interactive Business Award categories, as well as The Inspirational Business Mum Award, which will be awarded to the mother who proves to be an inspiration to all women in business.

Fiona said: “It would be fantastic to even just have made it to the finals of such a prestigious national award.

“Because we are such a new business I am pinning my hopes particularly on the Best Start Up award.”

A shortlist of nominees will be announced in August and a final winner awarded on September 30 at the Heart of England Conference Centre in Warwickshire.
