A Horse Watch Scheme is being launched in Rutland by police to improve security and communication with horse owners and riders.
Aimed at reducing rural and equine crime, it will work in a similar way to initiatives such as Neighbourhood Watch and Farm Watch.
Officers will be at R&R Country, Melton Road, Thorpe Arnold, on Saturday, between 10am and 5pm to discuss crime prevention and sign up interested parties. There will also be saddle tagging at a discounted £15 on the day.
PC Sharon Roscoe, of Melton Police said: “We’ve seen great success with Farm Watch and Neighbourhood Watch schemes and hope to match this with the Horse Watch Scheme.”
For more information call PC Sharon Rosco (ID no 4364) at Melton police station on 101 and leave a message.
