responsibility for some sewer pipes will transfer from home owners.
Anglian Water which manages sewerage in the area will adopt the pipes that connect homes to the sewer system if they are shared between neighbours or outside the property boundaries.
The pipes were formerly the responsibility of the home owners.
As a result, sewerage bills are set to rise to cover the extra costs to the company.
Private sewers programme manager Stephen Cook said: “Although the transfer takes place on October 1, bills will not increase as a result until 2014 at the earliest. We estimate it will be less than £1 a month on average.”
