THE members of Rutland County Council’s cabinet have been given their areas of responsibility.
The first cabinet meeting since the elections took place on Tuesday. The cabinet prepares council policies and budgets and is responsible for most day-to-day decision making. The cabinet also provides leadership and accountability for the community.
Council leader Roger Begy (Con) will be responsible for environmental services, culture and housing.
Deputy leader Terry King (Con) is responsible for finance and asset management, Coun Gene Plews (Con) is responsible for youth, sport and community safety and Coun Ken Bool (Con) is responsible for education and children’s services.
Newly-elected councillors Christine Emmett (Con) and Martyn Pocock (Con) are on the cabinet.
Coun Emmett will be responsible for health and social care while Coun Pocock is responsible for resources.
