County council to replace Queen’s Bridge in Eastgate, Bourne

Work is due to start in July to replace a bridge.

Lincolnshire County Council will carry out the work on the Queen’s Bridge in Eastgate, Bourne, because the bridge only has a 7.5 tonnes vehicle weight capacity, below the European directive of a 40 tonnes limit.

The bridge is also showing signs of deterioration with concrete spalling and reinforcement steel exposed.

Brick parapets will be used for the new structure.

The cycle way will be kept open while the work is done and there will also be a temporary pedestrian bridge.

Work will start on July 15 and is expected to take eight weeks.
