Elections in the village wards

TWO local village seats on Peterborough City Council are being contested next month.

Barnack, currently held by Conservative Councillor David Over and the Glinton and Wittering ward, represented by another Conservative, John Holdich, are among 19 wards, or one third of the city’s total, coming up for re-election on Thursday, May 3.

The deadline for nomination of candidates is midday on Wednesday, April 4.

Parish council elections on the same date include Bainton, which has five seats up for grabs, Barnack has seven seats, Helpston nine, Southorpe five, Ufford five and Wothorpe five.

The deadline to apply to vote or to apply for, amend or cancel postal votes is 5pm on Wednesday, April 18.

Applications to vote by proxy must be made by 5pm on Wednesday, April 25 and voting by proxy applications on grounds of physical incapacity that occurs after 5pm on April 25 must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday, May 3.
