A brother and sister from Fineshade have both completed their first training process for a career in the Forces.

After joining the Army when he was sixteen, Jack Arden had his passing out ceremony in August from the Army Foundation College in Harrogate.

Jack, who is 18 is now in Hampshire with his regiment the Royal Engineers.

After this he plans to move to Kent so he can become a carpenter and joiner as part of his second phase of his Engineer training.

Laura Arden, who is 21, has recently joined her brother in the services by completed stage one for the Royal Navy at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall.

When talking about what the training was like Laura said: “The more challenging parts were the most fun and we all felt so proud after them.

“I am looking forward to my nursing training and then possibly officer.”

After attending Prince William school Laura previously worked for the NHS as a health care assistant.

She has now become a trainee nurse and will spend the next three years in Birmingham studying for her BSc in nursing.
