PLANS for a new school in Bourne are due to be looked at by a council committee.
Lincolnshire County Council’s children and young people scrutiny committee will consider a proposal to establish additional school places in Bourne tomorrow (Friday).
It will be asked to comment on finding a suitable provider for the school.
The council decided to push ahead with proposals to build a new academy or free school on the Elsea Park estate because there are more children than spaces available in the reception years at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy and Bourne Westfield Primary Academy and this year some children were offered places at Edenham, Baston or Thurlby primary schools.
The new school will provide 210 primary school places, 30 in each year. It will be required in the town by 2015.
Kier Homes, the developer of the Elsea Park estate, will provide a site and some money towards extra school places.
