A TOWN council will hold a by-election after a councillor resigned.

Richard Appleyard has stepped down from Market Deeping Town Council to concentrate on work after his business expanded.

As a result, an election will be held on October 11 to replace him.

Town clerk Mandy Ford said: “The town council is not politically led and focuses on the provision of local services and amenities for residents and visitors to the town.”

Anyone wishing to stand for election must submit nomination papers to South Kesteven District Council’s returning officer no later than midday on Friday next week.

Papers can be obtained from town clerk Mandy Ford at the town hall in Market Place or by writing to the returning officer at South Kesteven District Council, St Peter’s Hill, Grantham, Lincs, NG31 6PZ.
