Councillors have raised a series of concerns about plans to knock down and old pub and build homes in its place.

TPSE Enterprises Limited wants to demolish the former Hit And Miss in Foundry Road, Stamford, and replace it with four homes.

Stamford Town Council’s planning committee considered the application and came up with a number of reasons to object.

Committee chairman Harrish Bisnauthsing (Lib Dem) said traffic in neighbouring Clare Close would be a problem.

He added: “The road is narrow. Residents park their cars on the left hand side. Access will be on the opposite side for four cars.”

Coun Bisnauthsing said overlooking was another issue, as was the proposed demolition.

He added: “We are also concerned about an old stone building being demolished. It has been closed for some years. But we have had previous applications turned down.

“We thought if it could be converted and use sympathetic materials to do the work.”

A previous application by George Bateman & Son Limited to convert the pub into a house and build three further homes was approved in July last year.
