New petrol station in Bourne can open 24 hours

Restrictions on the opening hours for a proposed petrol station have been lifted.

South Kesteven District Council has approved an application by land agent Temple Garth to remove conditions limiting the opening hours of a Texaco petrol station, which is planned for land off South Road in Bourne.

The station was granted outline permission on the condition that it closed between 11.30pm and 6am.

But at a meeting yesterday (Tuesday) the district council’s development control committee agreed to lift those restrictions.

Deliveries will not be allowed at night and noisy equipment like the car wash will not be allowed between 11.30pm and 6am.

Bourne Town Council did not object to the application but Thurlby Parish Council did, citing concerns over light from the station affecting neighbouring residents.

Six members of the public also submitted letters objecting to the scheme.

A reserved matters application with full designs for the petrol station, a Subway sandwich bar and a Spar shop on the site was also approved yesterday.

A Marston’s pub opened earlier this month on the same site.
