Rutland MP Alan Duncan has been given a new diplomatic role after stepping down from the Government.
Mr Duncan, who was previously Minister of State for International Development, has been appointed special envoy for Oman and Yemen by Prime Minister David Cameron.
In the role, which is a new position, Mr Duncan will help British strategy on security and development in Yemen, while strengthening ties with Oman. Mr Duncan previously ran a consultancy advising clients with interests in the Middle East.
A statement from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “His close links to a wide range of senior Omani figures, developed over years he has visited the country, will help him to do this.”
