THE proceeds from a Mercury advertising page have been donated to the Royal British Legion.

All the profit from a page in the November 11 edition was given to the legion’s Poppy Appeal. The page raised £119.33.

Secretary of the Legion’s Stamford branch, Pat Savory, thanked the Mercury for the donation.

She said: “The money goes to fund work on a national level. A lot of money is spent on helping ex and current servicemen in a variety of ways.”

Mercury commercial development manager Roberta Stinson said: “It is an important appeal to support and we like to give something back to the troops.”
