An independent inspection of Rutland County Council’s finances has given a clean bill of health.

Auditors from KPMG examined the council’s financial planning, controls and governance during its annual review.

The report says: “We are satisfied you have proper arrangements for securing financial resilience and challenging how you secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

“The financial statements give a true and fair view of the financial position of the authority and of its expenditure and income for the year.”

Councillor Terry King, portfolio holder for finance, said: “The external auditors have once again issued an unqualified opinion on our financial statements which should reassure residents that everything is in order and being handled appropriately.

“The auditors made it clear the quality of the council’s accounts and supporting papers was good. They did not highlight any areas for improvement.”
