Rutland pilots smartphone tourism technology

Have your say

VISITORS will be able to find out more information about Rutland thanks to new technology for smart phones.

Visit England has teamed up with Discover Rutland to launch the scheme which used 2D bar code technology called QR codes. These codes can be scanned by most smartphones and automatically open designated website pages.

There are QR codes at Fort Henry in Exton, Yew Tree Avenue in Clipsham and Rutland Water. People can scan the code and it opens a website with information about the places they are visiting, video clips and sound-bites.

Rutland is one of five locations running the pilot scheme for six months.
