KIND-hearted council employees rescued a family of ducks who got stuck down a drain.

South Kesteven District Council’s market supervisor Gary Taylor was told that seven ducklings were stuck a drain in the car park at The Meadows in Stamford, by a market trader.

He struggled to open the drain cover so recruited some of his colleagues and together, they managed to lift it off and within half an hour the family of ducks were happily swimming in the water again.

He said it was not something he came across every day.

Mr Taylor added: “It was impossible to move the drain cover on my own so I called for help from colleagues from the markets team and the refuse collection team.

“With their help we were able to remove the drain cover and rescue the ducks.”
