AN MP has been using taxpayers’ money to learn Hebrew, according to a national newspaper.
Stamford and Bourne MP Nick Boles has been learning the language of his Israeli partner, Shay Meshulam, whom he entered into a civil partnership with last year.
The story was revealed by The Mirror which said Mr Boles has used £678.80 of public money to pay for the lessons.
All MPs have the option of free language lessons.
Mr Boles was unavailable to talk to the Mercury but his office issued a statement in which he said: “Language instruction is a service available to Members of Parliament. I took some Hebrew lessons.”
Last month Mr Boles called for wealthy pensioners to lose certain benefits, such as winter fuel payments and free bus passes.
