A BUSINESS group is canvassing its members for their opinions on a council’s proposed new parking policy.
Lincolnshire County Council is consulting on its draft parking policy, which includes proposals for the council to take on responsibility for civil parking enforcement from the police.
If the council approves the policy, the council will apply to the Department for Transport in December to take over enforcement powers. The scheme would come into force in June.
Stamford Chamber of Trade and Commerce has written to its members asking if they strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree or are neutral about the parking policy.
The chamber does not have a firm policy on on-street parking although it does have a policy on off-street parking.
It will then submit the responses to the council before the consultation ends on Friday next week.
Lincolnshire would be the last county in the country to take on parking enforcement from the police.
