Work on a new skatepark on the Rec in Stamford can finally begin after councillors approved a management plan.
South Kesteven District Council’s development control committee voted to approve the plan at a meeting today (Tuesday).
Planning permission for the skatepark itself was granted in October but Stamford Town Council, which made the application, and the Stamford Skatepark Committee were asked to draw up a strict plan to make sure the park did not disturb neighbouring residents.
The plan contains opening hours, a noise monitoring scheme, details on how access would be managed and a rigorous formal complaint procedure.
A report to councillors said 41 letters supporting the management plan and 16 objecting to it had been received.
Objections included the level of noise and the potential for antisocial behaviour.
The skatepark committee was concerned that if the plan was not approved they would lose up to £50,000 in grant funding.
A total of £150,000 was raised to build the park and with the final permission granted, work can now begin.
