Zebra crossing approved for Stamford

WORK will start on installing a zebra crossing in the autumn.

Lincolnshire county councillors approved plans to install the crossing in Sidney Farm Lane, Stamford, on Monday.

The crossing, which is being part of the community travel zone scheme, was passed by the planning and regulation committee.

Stamford Town Council lodged an objection and called for a pelican crossing to be installed instead.

The recommendation to approve the plans was proposed by former mayor Coun David Brailsford (Con).

He said: “It is a facility that has been needed by the residents of Rutland Heights for many years.”

He also said the council only had a finite amount of resources.
