THE winners of a front garden competition have been unveiled.

Uppingham in Bloom organises the front gardens competition to encourage people to get involved in the competition.

There were 15 entries, which were judged by Nick Hamilton from Barnsdale Gardens. The winner was Val Dalby, of Gerrard Court, Uppingham.

Uppingham committee chairman Karen Emery said there was a high standard of entries.

Judges from the East Midlands in Bloom committee visited the town on Thursday last week and results will be announced on September 14.

Karen said: “We were pleased with how the judging went.

“The judges seem to have enjoyed their visit to our lovely town and asked us to thank the community for making them so welcome.”

She thanked the Uppingham School gardening team for their help with the planting and maintenance of the towns floral displays and the volunteers who help with weeding and general up keep of the town.
