Christmas hampers were delivered to the Butterfield Centre by school pupils on Thursday last week.

Bourne Academy ran a house competition called the Christmas Hamper Challenge, where each tutor group had to decorate a hamper and fill it with donated goods suitable for an elderly person.

The Butterfield Centre provides a range of services for the elderly in the town ranging from delivering meals to the clients door to cleaning.

Head of Turner House Lindsay Nicoll said: “I can’t tell you what a privilege it was to deliver the beautiful hampers made up by our pupils.

“The elderly were so very appreciative and happy to receive a present that had so much thought put into it.

We had smiles, excitement and even tears.

Deputy manager of the Butterflied Centre Jenny Peel said: “I have never seen the residents so animated, they have really enjoyed themselves.”
