A group of pupils had their billboard designs printed and displayed locally as their prize for becoming finalists in a national enterprise competition.

The pupils from Uppingham Community College competed in the national final of the Coca-Cola Enterprises Real Business Challenge at Wembley Stadium.

All the finalists designed advertising boards to raise awareness of intellectual disability sports charity, Special Olympics Great Britain.

The boards were recently put up in place in each school’s local area.

The design by the Uppingham pupils was displayed on advertising boards at bus stops in High Street, in Oakham, at the Total Garage, in Glaston Road, Morcott, and the Jet Garage in Rockingham Road.

Now in its tenth year, the 2012/2013 competition had more than 560 schools vying for the title, which was ultimately claimed by Strathaven Academy in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Our picture shows the pupils with the advertising board. They are, from left, Rhys Hill, 14, Lucy Mann, 14, Tristan Hubbard, 14, Alex Mapletoft, 14, Ben Drury, 13, and Will Partington, 14.
