RAIN called off play for a Victorian cricket match at the weekend.

The Rotary Club of Stamford Burghley had organised matches between three hotels and a restaurant at The Meadows, in Stamford, yesterday.

The George Hotel, The Garden Inn Hotel, The Crown Hotel and Jim’s Yard were due to compete to raise money for the Fred Trueman Schools Cricket League and local charities supported by rotary.

But the matches were called due to the heavy downpour. Brave Jakob Wright, 13, went along to support the event despite the weather.
