THE Rotary Club of the Deepings held its 26th annual charity run yesterday (Sunday).

The event included a 3km fun run and a 10km run, which was a flat course. Both runs started from the Deepings Rugby Club in Linchfield Road, Deeping St James.

There was a record attendance of 104 3km runners, with runners ageing from three to 62-years-old. The winner was 16-year-old Joe Howells, who had a time of 10min 26sec. The first placed female runner was 12-year-old Catherine Hemmingway, who came ninth overall with a time of 12min 15 sec.

Peter Hibbins, a member of the club, said Deepings Rugby Club was “buzzing with excitement” despite the overcast weather.

He said: “It was a great fun event and some promising future serious runners were in contention.”

The Rotary Club of the Deepings appreciate the support and president Joe Piercy thanked the race sponsors, who have continually supported this event for many years, including Bentley Charles Insurance Services and

Graytones Printers.

He also thanked Gary Bentley, all the Rotarians, the Inner Wheel, Deepings First Responders and all who had a hand in making this another successful event.
