ATTENDANCE records were blown away at a primary school firework display.
Crowds flocked to the Bourne Abbey Primary Academy bonfire night event last weekend.
Clear skies allowed for a spectacular 20 minute display and the roaring bonfire kept spectators warm.
The event was organised by the school’s PTFA. Chairman Sam Oliphant said: “It was a really good night. I’m not yet sure how much we raised but we took more than last year.
“I was rushing around but saw the end of the fireworks and that was really good.”
The night’s entertainment went down well and the annual event’s attendance record was smashed.
Mrs Oliphant added: “The bonfire was a huge success, it brought a lot of people in. We stopped counting after 2,500 and we had a record turnout.
“Everyone had a good time. Thanks to everyone who supported us.”
Records were broken in Stamford as well, as more than 2,000 people turned out for the display at Queen Eleanor School on Saturday by Stamford Kiwanis
A display at Blackstones Sports and Social Club on Lincoln Road was also successful, drawing a crowd of about 350.
