A record number of people visited the Christmas tree festival in Stamford on its opening weekend.
The exhibition of 28 trees, decorated by community groups in the town, opened on Friday and had more than 1700 visitors on Sunday when the town’s lights where switched on.
The annual event, held in St John’s Church, Stamford, is organised by Stamford and District Lions.
Beryl Kirtland, who runs the card shop alongside the tree festival, said: “We were busy all day and what is lovely is people came in who perhaps would not come into the church normally.
“The tree festival is the true essence of Christmas.”
The tree display will be open until Sunday.
