THE residents of Barnack and Pilsgate have celebrated the jubilee with a series of events.

Activities on Sunday and Monday included a church service, a cavalcade of vehicles, a picnic, a historical exhibition, a village photo and a family fun afternoon.

David Roxburgh, one of the organisers, said particular highlights were the street picnic which had to be moved into the school hall because of the weather and a Barnack’s Got Talent evening held at the Millstone pub.

He said: “It has been superb. We have been delighted at the turnout and support from the village and I think at some point nearly every resident has been involved in something.

“We have really gone to town to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.”

Today there is also due to be a jubilee tree planting.
