MEMBERS of a women’s institute branch marked its 70th anniversary with a garden party.
Ryhall Women’s Institute members celebrated this milestone anniversary with a party on Tuesday.
President Marian Whiting, 69, welcomed 15 members to her home in Armley Grove, Stamford, to celebrate this amazing anniversary.
Among the guests were Gladys Charity, of Coppice Road, Ryhall, and Edith Fordham, who have been members for 45 years.
Mrs Fordham, of Burley Road, Ryhall, recalled past meetings.
She said: “It used to be a lot more jam and Jerusalem. I used to think, oh crikey, not more jam tarts!”
Mrs Whiting said the branch liked to keep up with the times.
“We’re always willing to pick up new ideas,” she said.
