Scores of cyclists and walkers are getting set for an event which supports churches throughout the county.

This year’s sponsored Ride and Stride takes place on Saturday, September 14, between 10am and 6pm, and nearly all of Rutland’s 64 churches and chapels will be open for the day.

The event supports Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust in raising funds to repair and maintain churches across the county.

More than £19,000 was raised when the event was last held in 2011.

For this year’s event a revamped website allows participants to plan their route to the churches via an online Plan Your Route feature. Participants who are less mobile can travel by car.

For more information about the event and to find out how to take part, visit www.rhcpt.co.uk, call organiser Richard Adams on 01572 756706 or visit your local church.
